God And Your Heartbeat

A Study Of The Primary Force Of Life

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
That was the true Light, which lighteth
every man that cometh into the world."
John 1:4,9

By Ken Raggio

The energy of life.

In physics, energy is defined as the capacity to do work. (A rock doesn't have much energy, unless it happens to be made out of uranium. Then its huge unstable molecules can be split and create an atomic blast, which contains an enormous amount of energy.)

The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that all energy systems will eventually equalize. Another way to state that is to say that all energy systems eventually slow down and will produce smaller and smaller amounts of energy unless an additional external energy source is introduced.

A third way to say that is that if you don't put gas in your car, you are going to end up in a parked car.

Or, if you disconnect your alternator from your battery, your battery is going to eventually die.

In modern thought, the term "energy" often refers to oil. Oil is a form of energy that almost everybody recognizes. Since oil and gas is easily combustible, it is widely used as a form of energy.

Another common example is nuclear or atomic power. We see how science has learned to make use of the energy in atoms and molecules by either splitting atoms or fusing atoms.

But the most remarkable form of energy, in my point of view, is the energy of life.

The energy of life might be a limited reference to physical energy. Most of us are familiar with the term CALORIE.

We measure the energy that is available in the foods we eat in terms of CALORIES. If we consume too few calories to support our bodies, we lose weight and run out of energy. If we eat too many calories, our bodies store it as fat to be burned at a later time. If we eat too many calories for a long period of time, our bodies accumulate excess fat, and ironically, our energy levels drop again - not because we can't access the source of energy that is in the fat, but because the fat itself demands larger amounts of energy to support, and systems get out of balance.

Scientists measure the calories in food by burning the food and measuring the thermal heat that comes out of it. If you try to burn water, it will not burn, so we say that water has no calories.

If you burn sugar, it burns easily, and releases a lot of heat, so sugar has a lot of calories in it. That's why people get hooked on sugar, and that's why so many food manufacturers load our food products with sugar. People get a sudden burst of energy when they eat sugar.

Unfortunately, that energy in sugar burns quickly and is short-lived. So then we crave more sugar. Eventually, our cravings cause us to eat more than we should and we get fat. Our pancreas gets overworked and begins to wear out and fail. Then we can no longer process all the sugar we are eating - a condition called diabetes. When we can no longer convert all the sugar to energy, our sugar levels get out of control, rising and falling in a troublesome way throughout the day.

I am still talking about energy. We all have energy issues.

Junk food gives us bursts of energy, but leaves us sick. Healthy food does NOT typically give energy bursts, but rather metabolizes at a slower, more even pace, mostly because it contains complex carbohydrates. Therefore the energy is more reliable and sustainable if you get it from natural fruits and vegetables instead of from ice cream and cake and carbonated beverages, which contain simple carbohydrates which burn quickly.

I was introduced to and witnessed several demonstrations of a machine that functions as a source of physical energy for the human body. The scientist who developed this machine was a member of NASA's Apollo Lunar Mission conducted in the 1960s.

Since those days, Dr. William Nelson has studied the energy levels of tens of thousands of items, from the energy levels in certain human cells, to energy levels of thousands of diseases, viruses, bacteria, and fungus. He has catalogued them all. He defined the energy levels of herbs, foods, and many pharmaceutical drugs.

He developed a machine that can analyze the human body and read it like a book. In a few minutes time, it can identify the presence or absence of about 9,000 diseases. It can measure the presence of toxins and heavy metals and chemicals that do not belong in the human body.

But more amazingly, this computer-driven machine can also speak to the energy levels in the body and alter them.

It measures the energy levels of the cells in your body on a scale of about 40 to 180. Healthy cells have an energy range between 60 and 100. Diseased cells usually appear to be stressed or overactive cells, with energy ranges of 110 to 180. Physical weaknesses show up in very low ranges below 60.

Dr. Nelson created a way to zap the diseased cells and gradually neutralize the overactive cells, and slow them down to acceptable and normal levels of energy. In areas of physical weakness, the machine zaps the below-normal cells and energizes them, stimulating them to perform at higher, yet normal ranges.

In one particular case that I am personally familiar with, this machine was used to reverse a case of advanced Alzheimers disease. An older man who was only one step away from being given a feeding tube was cured of Alzheimers and is now leading a normal life again.

And it all began by correcting the abnormal energy levels in the body.

I have said all these things to come to a point about energy in the context of the Bible and God and spirituality.

God is the original source of all energy. God predated all the material universe. Before there was sun, moon or stars, before the first galaxy or constellation, there was God. He is the ONLY SELF-EXISTENT ONE!

God is the invisible Spirit from eternities past. Before the creation of the universe, there was only blackness of void. That is where the Spirit of God dwelled. But God the eternal Spirit was conscious.

I personally believe that the first and foremost thing that can be said about God is that He is the original conscious mind.

There was no thought, no consciousness, before or apart from God. God had the first thought, the first sense of self-consciousness in all the universe.

Before there were stellar bodies, God thought. He HAD thoughts, but he WAS thought. His essence in eternal past was thought or consciousness. But He was and is much more. God is self-conscious. He is the first entity in the entire universe to know He existed. He knew the essence of all things, of which there was none.

So God created. God created all things by His thought. We cannot possibly know all the things that were on God's mind throughout the ages of eternity past, but the first sentence we know of that God ever spoke was, "LET THERE BE LIGHT."

I am always intrigued by that topic, because Moses taught us that the SUN, MOON, and STARS were created on the FOURTH DAY of creation. That means that the LIGHT of the sun, moon and stars could NOT have existed when God said, "Let there be light."

So the light God created on the first day, was NOT the light of the sun, moon or stars. God spoke SUPERNATURAL LIGHT into existence.

The first vegetation on earth - the herbs, the trees, the flowers, did not have the light of the sun to grow by, because they were created on the third day, before the sun was created on the fourth day.

Mohammed, in the Koran, teaches a different creation story, in part, say many Muslims, because of that very fact. They don't believe Moses' story because Moses said the sun was created after vegetation.

But I don't have a problem with Moses because I believe that God's supernatural light - God's supernatural energy - is what caused the very first life forms on earth.

I do NOT believe that life evolved from lifeless matter randomly or accidentally. I believe that life was ENERGIZED ON PURPOSE. GOD GAVE LIFE TO THE MATERIAL WORLD. Before there was a proton, or neutron or electron, there was the Spirit of God. God's Spirit is more primordial than any of the natural elements. The Spirit of God pre-dates all the elements. The Spirit of God CREATED all the elements. But more than the elements, God created LIFE!!

God created vegetative life by creating seeds, and scattering them on the dry ground. The Bible said that God raised up a MIST from the earth to water the seeds, and then they were germinated and began to grow.

Genesis 2:4-6,9 - "...the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field BEFORE IT WAS IN THE EARTH, and every herb of the field BEFORE IT GREW: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, ...But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. ...And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food."

And ASTONISHINGLY, that all happened without the benefit of the sun! It happened on the THIRD day of Creation, BEFORE the sun was created on the FOURTH day of Creation.

So the light that provided the energy for all of creation was the miraculous light and energy of God.

I think this is one of the most important premises in all the world.

LIFE CAME FROM GOD. LIFE CAME FROM SUPERNATURAL ENERGY.

In nature, photosynthesis is the process whereby green leaves absorb the light of the sun and converts it to energy. It is a miraculous process whereby carbon dioxide and water are converted into carbohydrates (like sugar) utilizing the energy of sunlight. The by-product of this process is oxygen. If it was not for photosynthesis that takes place in all of plant life, we probably would not have enough oxygen freely available for human and animal life.

I believe that God jump-started the original photosynthesis with supernatural light.

Therefore, God is the first and original source of energy. God WAS the first energy. God is the first and primordial life. ALL LIFE COMES FROM GOD!

God is the first spark.

Your car runs on gasoline because its inventors build a system that would methodically flash a spark into gas fumes, igniting an explosion that pushes the metal pistons that are attached to a crankshaft. As several explosions are fired in sequence, alternating pistons turn the crankshaft, which is connected to a transmission, which turns a driveshaft, which turns the wheels, which takes you down the freeway at 70 miles per hour.

Eventually, all the gasoline in your tank is exploded, and you have to stop at the gas station and buy more gas.

In your body, the same kind of process is taking place. You eat your steak and potatoes, or your chicken and rice, or your Hostess Twinkies and Dr. Pepper and your body burns the calories and you get energy and get up and walk and do your work.

But here is a major talking point.

You have to have a spark.

In your car, gasoline alone will not burn by itself.

You have to have a spark.

That is why your car has a battery in it. The battery provides the spark. The battery combines chemicals that react with each other, and they generate a small amount of energy that is released in the form of a direct electrical current. The electrical current is then used to create the spark that explodes the gasoline that drives the engine.

In the human body, you also have to have a spark.

There has to be an electrical signal to make your heart beat. The spark inside your heart makes the muscles react. The spark creates a muscle spasm that squeezes blood out of its chamber into the cardiovascular system. The blood flows all over the body and gives it life.

Moses said that the life of the body is IN the blood (Leviticus 17:11).

There is energy in the blood cells. Put a red corpuscle of a blood cell under a microscope and you will see it glow. There is a luminescence in a blood cell that is an indicator of its health. A sick blood cell has a fainter glow, because it has less energy. A healthy cell has a brighter glow because it has more energy. It is a truly amazing phenomenon.

Where did that energy come from?

Scientists have observed that cells removed from the heart of a newborn chicken continue to pulse as much as two days after being separated from the bird's body. Where does that pulse come from? Where did the FIRST PULSE OF LIFE ever originate?

It has to be explained within the context of how the body was created in the first place.

If you had been in the laboratory with the scientist who first discovered nitroglycerine, you might have been injured. Nitroglycerine in its pure form is so explosive that it will go off if you bump the jar it's in.

Alfred Nobel mixed it with diatomacious earth and created dynamite.

Enough dynamite will blow up a mountain.

I am talking about energy.

According to the Bible chronology, it has been over 6,000 years since God formed Adam out of the dust of the earth.

"Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again? ...Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit." Job 10:9,12.

God breathed HIS life into the man He had created, and suddenly HE HAD PULSE - HE HAD CONSCIOUSNESS. It was the LIFE of GOD! And it came FROM God!

If there is NO GOD, there is NO LIFE. Before you embark on a livid defense of the theory of evolution, just remember, matter cannot evolve from empty space. It is impossible for solids or gases or liquids to evolve from NOTHING! God was FIRST! Then matter. HE created it all.

Here is a thought-provoking commentary from Charles Spurgeon, from his message on the text, “Partakers of the divine nature.” - 2 Peter 1:4.

"To be a partaker of the divine nature is not, of course, to become God. That cannot be. The essence of Deity is not to be participated in by the creature. Between the creature and the Creator there must ever be a gulf fixed in respect of essence; but as the first man Adam was made in the image of God, so we, by the renewal of the Holy Spirit, are in a yet diviner sense made in the image of the Most High, and are partakers of the divine nature.

We are, by grace, made like God. “God is love”; we become love-”He that loveth is born of God.” God is truth; we become true, and we love that which is true: God is good, and he makes us good by his grace, so that we become the pure in heart who shall see God. Moreover, we become partakers of the divine nature in even a higher sense than this-in fact, in as lofty a sense as can be conceived, short of our being absolutely divine. Do we not become members of the body of the divine person of Christ? Yes, the same blood which flows in the head flows in the hand: and the same life which quickens Christ quickens his people, for “Ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”

Nay, as if this were not enough, we are married unto Christ. He hath betrothed us unto himself in righteousness and in faithfulness, and he who is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Oh! marvellous mystery! we look into it, but who shall understand it? One with Jesus-so one with him that the branch is not more one with the vine than we are a part of the Lord, our Saviour, and our Redeemer!

While we rejoice in this, let us remember that those who are made partakers of the divine nature will manifest their high and holy relationship in their intercourse with others, and make it evident by their daily walk and conversation that they have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. O for more divine holiness of life!"

So, all we are, and ever hope to be springs up from the life of God that works in us. Without Him, we can do nothing. Without Him, we would BE nothing!

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men. ...That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world," John 1:4,9.
